We had booked the Red Cottage thinking we would drive down from... read more London--there is free on-site parking--but in the end traveled on the train. Rye Cottage was conveniently located only a 5-7 minute walk from the station in a quiet, residential area. From there all the sights of Rye and its shops and restaurants are in easy walking distance. Gill and Brian are lovely hosts who attend to so many details. In the comfortable room (and bed!) was a tea tray with sweets and biscuits, as well as a fridge stocked with milk and water. The breakfast was by far the BEST English breakfast we've had in any of the B&Bs where we stayed during several trips to England--a warm croissant, homemade granola, lots of fresh fruit, cheeses, and all the other main items cooked just perfectly. If we ever visit Rye again--an utterly charming town--we will definitely return to the Red Cottage. More

We had a lovely three nights in Rye staying at The red cottage.
We had the smaller of the two rooms which is still a good size and beautifully decorated.... read more We both slept very well, the sleigh bed is comfy and the bedding beautiful. The bathroom is clean and spacious and has everything you may need incluiding posh toiletries.
There was tea, coffee, hot chocolate and herbal teas aswell as prosecco, milk and water in the little fridge. Lovely biscuits in a jar too.
Breakfast was delicious each morning, everything cooked fresh to order and nothing too much trouble.
Red cottage is in a good spot close to the town with free off road parking.
Rye is a beautiful place to spend a few days relaxing or sight seeing. There are lots of lovely old pubs and restaurants to eat and drink in. Gill and Brian have made a folder with a map and a list of great places to eat around Rye. You can't go wrong if you choose from their favourite places on this list.
Brian and Gill have done everything very thoughtfully, we loved our stay with them and we couldn't have asked for more.

Gill and Brian made us feel... read more so welcome it was like home from home and the breakfasts were superb just what you needed to start the day. The location was great only a couple of minutes walk into the town center. The added bonus was our own parking at the Red Cottage. We would highly recommend a stay at the Red Cottage. Thanks Gill and Brian.
Just a mention if you like real ale try the "Water works" micro brewery in the high street. Very quirky fantastic beer and the scotch eggs are to die for. Loved our stay in Rye.julesr259

We have visited Rye many times and have always stayed in the same hotel, until the last visit in 2018 was under new management and not to our liking, so... read more we searched on line for alternatives. The Red Cottage popped up on Trip Advisor with excellent reviews so we made the decision and definitely did not regret it. Very comfy room, very decent breakfast, nice lady running it and free parking. Prosecco and cold water in the fridge, too. We will probably be back!

Lovely room (well suite actually). Excellent shower and bath. Walk in wardrobe that contains a fridge with water and fresh milk - all the nice details taken care of. A comfy bed and not a sound outside so a good nights sleep was had. Then there was the breakfast - better than most expensive hotels. Will we return - definitely. Thank you for a lovely couple of days.

We stayed here for three nights, as we made side trips to Canterbury and Dover (glad we didn't stay in either of those towns). Red Cottage B&B became a... read more refuge from tourists. We stayed in the Bradley Wing, which was spacious, quiet, and with windows in all directions, including a field with grazing sheep. A perfect breakfast with fresh fruit prepared by Gill and Brian started the day off right. And good restaurants are within easy walking distance.

On our trip through southern England we only booked one night at this recommended B & B. We felt immediately comfortable in our cozy and elegant room and had a... read more very nice, clean and modern bathroom with large rain shower. The breakfast was served in a nice dining room with garden view and was also very good and extensive. We could not try everything. Gill and Brian are very friendly and helpful hosts, so on the way back we decided to stay another night before taking the ferry from Dover to Calais. Many thanks from Grit and Markus from Berlin!

The breakfast was the standout feature of this b&b and was indeed very good as others have noted, with lovely fresh fruit, and faultless cooked food. The room was well... read more fitted out with tea making facilities and biscuits and I loved the fresh flowers everywhere. Gill is a good and experienced hostess. We did feel the photos made the room rather more glamorous than it actually was, and our shower was fiddly and ran cold unexpectedly several times. It was quiet at night.
